Zest Air Chartered Flight to South Korea Overshoots Aklan Airport Runway
A Zest Air chartered plane flight bound to South Korea had overshot the runway of the Kalibo International Airport Thursday afternoon.
In an information provided to the local media, the incident happened around 3:45 PM as the plane was about to take off the runway. At least 180 passengers were onboard, majority of them were South Koreans.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) immediately conducted an investigation on the said incident. CAAP officials met with the plane pilots to discuss the incident.
Both CAAP and plane personnel also discussed whether to pursue the plane flight anytime tonight.
During the incident, operation of the KIA continued as there were no scheduled flights from other domestic and international destination plying the airport.
The plane that overshot the runway was brought to its parking bay after an hour, the CAAP said.
