Kalibo hotels oriented on disaster mgt

Members of the Kalibo Ati-Atihan Accommodations Association were oriented on disaster management in preparation for the forthcoming Ati-Atihan Festival.

“The participants were taught how to deal with tourists and guests during floods and typhoons,” among other disasters, said Gerwin Garcia, the association’s president.

Among the participants in the seminar were hotel and resort front desk staff and security guards.

SPO1 Julius Barrientos of the Kalibo police station taught the participants about the standard operating procedure in handling guests during emergencies.

“We also encouraged our members to install CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras in their respective establishments,” said Garcia.

“We also advised them to provide a copy (of the CCTV footage) to the police once any untoward incident happens in their (establishment),” he stressed.

The association is expecting its member establishments to get fully booked in terms of room accommodations for the Ati-Atihan Festival.

The seminar was held in coordination with the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Division of the municipal government./
